Puppy Pre-School goes for 4 weeks and is all about socialisation and desensitizing your puppy to the surrounding and new situations.
Puppies are like small children soaking in information at a rapid rate. However, they don’t speak English so they learn through behaviour in acting out and being around other dogs, buses, cars, people (young and old), children, fairs, sports grounds and shopping centres.
In fact, where ever you go take your dog with you, this is the best advice I can give you. This course is all about socialisation, understanding your puppy’s needs, their behaviour and teaching them to be acceptable around different people and environments. You can’t expect them to know everything nor yourself and as puppies grow rapidly you will soon find their behaviours will change as they learn new behaviour and practices.
Because they grow and learn so fast, and we only want behaviours which are acceptable I recommend Pet Dog Manners to follow PPS.
Pet Dog Manners
This program is over an 8 week period, a minimum of 1 hr per week. At this level, you will not only be reinforcing what you have learned in PPS but you will learn new skills and behaviours to help train your puppy to become a good citizen.
The foundation of this course is building the bond between your dog and you so that you can tackle the issues which are sure to come up as your puppy gets older. Remember that although this course goes for 8 weeks, good behaviour is progress in work through your dog’s life. So don’t think that 8 weeks is going to be the end of your learning and teaching your dog to be well behaved.
Think of your puppy being the equivalent of a 2-year-old child. Well, that is about the equivalent of what you have but in the 4 legged styles. So you want to start off on the right foot/paw and encourage good behaviour and build the foundations on the right track from the beginning.
Of course, there are lots more to teach your puppy and the first twelve months of any puppy’s life is very important when it comes to training.
I want you both to succeed and have a very happy long life together so it is very important that you get off on the right paw. Remember if you put the hard work in now you will be the envy of everyone else around you, as you will have a dog that everyone will love to be around.
I offer both group classes and private lessons and together we will work out what will suit both you and your dog. There are benefits to both and I program the lessons so that we can reach the desired result which will benefit your dog and your family. After all, that is why we are working together to train your dog. To work on having a well socialized, well mannered and obedient, happy dog.
Group classes are great as they teach your dog to be behaving in the proper manner around other dogs and people, in an everyday environment under supervision. We call this socialization and it is vitally important to helping your dog becoming a well adjusted, well mannered and acceptable family member and just as important to the community. I can’t stress enough how critical it is that your dog is well socialized.
If you decide that group classes aren’t for you then I offer you my services for private lessons. Don’t feel because you are the only one in the lesson that you and your dog are missing out as I will do my very best to make sure that you both receive the techniques and strategies required just as you would if in a group class. Besides, some dogs and owner’s do better on a one to one bases.
The most important thing to remember is that everyone must be comfortable. I don’t just mean human comforts, but your pet must be comfortable in his environment if we are to be successful. Whether you are a private individual or a group class ongoing support via phone, email or in person is offered while you are in the program. If you feel you and your dog would benefit from more classes just ask, not everyone learns at the same pace and I will only be too happy to help you. The key to remember is, “whether you are working with your dog, be it at classes, at home or even on walks don’t set your dog up to fail”.
Remember to be positive and reward for behaviour that is acceptable and ignore unwanted behaviour. Make sure it is fun and above everything else enjoy your time together.
A home away from home for everyone. This service is to help your dog feel not as alone when you have to go to work, shopping or away for the day.
We offer socialisation, interaction, friendly play, rest and relaxation under supervision. Dogs are allowed to roam free within the fenced yards and play with each other as they want to or just sit under the tree or lay around on the trampoline beds inside the kennels.
